So the easter holidays are finally upon us - HOORAH we cry! and i thought it would be a good point to catch up on the week's comings and goings. its been a quiet week on the FMP front, starting to pick up on my favourite locations around Manchester.
Had a good chat with my tutor today re: FMP where its going what im researching etc.
decided there are three very important categories to look into:
what makes a performance VENUE?
what IS a performance?
Audience size
Also took on a job as a design consultant for an amateur film group this week which is a nice extra to add to the resume. Just providing contacts and exploring ideas and methods of construction, although im playing a very silent role, for once, ive promised to check in in a couple of weeks with a paintbrush if it is necessary!
NOTES: track down sticky back silver.
so yeh thats that folks, now i settle down to a quiet weekend without the shop!

wirework
this was the run up to the FMP prep, had great fun last week in our first session with Jill Walker just playing with wire and what its capable of. Experimenting a little with mixed media and different wires, heavily influenced by her work but also looking at my interpretation from a theatrical point of view. Created the person just as a way to start off, then returning to the wire costumes idea I've researched before, this time adding waxed tissue paper for something a little different, was actually quite pleased with this stuff, it's acted as an excellent bridge between projects.

TUESDAY
Had such a great day today. Jill Walker was back in the studio inspiring us with her fantastic passion not only for wire and experimentation but teaching and creative thinking.
She introduced me to the fantastic artist ALEXANDER CALDER, which fortunately enough tied in beautifully with a selection of photos from yesterday-that same industrial essence.

Ah peace and quiet.
followed the river the other day, my favourite walk, and stumbled across these beautiful snowdrops. It's one of those beautiful unique places that seems entirely separate from daily life. A walk to a place where I can clear my head and be inspired.
